At Cambridge School Srinivaspuri, education is a participative and collaborative activity. Based on this vision of the founder, Mr. Alok Chandra Deb, the school organised the 2nd edition of the Inter School Psychology Festival, ‘Psy-Fiesta’ on November 27, 2018. It gave a platform to young adolescents to explore and express qualitative aspects of human behaviour through stories and narratives. The theme for this year was ‘Childhood’, an area of interest to psychologists across the world for many years.
The programme began with lamp lighting and the Principal, Mrs Aparna Seebaluck while welcoming the gathering motivated the students to participate with enthusiasm. Mr. Vikram Roy, School Manager also graced the occasion.
The programme began with the Primary school students enchanting all with their group songs ‘Lakri Ki Kathi’ and ‘Teri hai Zameen’ followed by a dance performance that resonated with the innocence of childhood. This was followed by a street play, by class XI students, depicting the hardships faced by the street children and their rehabilitation. Zoya Akram of class XII also recited a self composed poem on depression.
The Guests of Honor for the event were Dr. Garima Srivastava, renowned Clinical Psychologist and Lecturer at Delhi University and Ms. Yusra Khan, school alumnus, heading the NGO, Yellow Street which is currently working with under privileged children and has professional experience in various facets of children, adolescents, youth work, social entrepreneurship etc.
The judges for the Photo Story Competition on ‘The Life of Street Children’ were Mr. Siddharth Jain, a professional freelance photographer, Ms. Chhavi Mittal, visiting faculty for the Department of Psychology at Daulat Ram College, Delhi University and Ms. Yusra Khan. In this event, the students presented a photo story of 5-7 images depicting life of street children. Aditya Kumar Chaturvedi and Ayushi Roy of Cambridge School, Indirapuram bagged the first position.
The second event was Poster Making Competition wherein the participants had to present a child’s growing years through folktales and fairytales. This was evaluated by Dr. Garima Srivastava and Ms. Chavi Mittal. Divya Kataria and Shambhavi Palni of Cambridge School, Indirapuram bagged the first position in this event too.
The third event judged by Dr. Shweta Wadhwa, Occupational Therapist running a Pediatric Therapy Center “SUBHA – The New Start” and Ms. Nishtha Pandey was the Group Discussion event based on ‘Foundation of Childhood: Nature vs Nurture’. Students analyzed the factors that shape an individual’s life and enthusiastically shared their view points. Anukrishna Singh of Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri was declared the winner and Best Speaker in this segment.
Prominent schools across Delhi/NCR enthusiastically participated in the three events and Cambridge School Indirapuram was the Overall Winner of the Psy Fiesta 2018.
